Originally from Minnesota in USA, my name is Thomas Mach and I have been living in Japan for over 20 years. I reside near Hyogo Prefecture's traditional Tamba pottery village.
Most of the vessels I make are intended for everyday use. From digging and processing local wild clay to firing the wares in my wood kiln, I try to do whatever I can in traditional ways with my own hands. I aim to make wares that come across as both practical and one-of-a-kind. My hope is that their shapes, textures and colors combine to soothe and comfort their users.
